Grenade Table with Skull Chairs
A full dining set built around a grenade carved from stacked timber, with skull-back chairs and a thick glass top that lets the grain read straight through.
Handcrafted wooden furniture
War Wood is a Ukrainian workshop making premium furniture from solid timber. Every table, dresser and chair is drawn for one room, cut once and finished by hand, so the piece that arrives carries warmth, weight and a history nobody else owns.

Nothing is stocked and nothing is repeated. Your piece is drawn for your room.
Cut to show the grain rather than hide it, then oiled so it keeps darkening for years.
Tanks, helicopters and grenades shaped entirely from timber, then scorched and oiled so the grain stands out.
One team from the first sketch to the day it is carried through your door.
The work
These are not catalogue items. Each one began as raw timber on the workshop floor and ended as a piece somebody eats at, works at or passes down. Five of them below.

Made entirely of wood, down to the last track link. Hull, turret, barrel and road wheels are cut and stacked from solid timber, scorched to bring out the grain and topped with a heavy slab.
Shaped entirely from timber in the workshop, part furniture and part model, built up panel by panel before finishing.
Your length, your timber, your finish, carried on forged ironwork. The piece that starts as a sketch on the workshop wall and ends in your room.
Handmade entirely from solid oak: edge-glued panels, a sliding glass front, two lift-up glazed lids and splayed legs that bring it up to viewing height. A proper piece of furniture for the animal that lives in it, built to any size.

Custom furniture
Tell us the room and we design into it. We take the measurements, talk through how the piece will actually be used, then sketch until the proportions are right. You pick the timber from what is in the rack, you see the joinery before it is glued and you sign off the finish before it goes on.

How it works
No showroom, no middleman and no surprises at the end. Here is the whole process.
You send the room, the rough size and anything you have seen that you like. We come back with questions and a direction, not a sales pitch.
You get drawings, a timber proposal and a fixed price. Nothing goes on the saw until you are happy with all three.
Joinery, carving, shaping and assembly all happen in one workshop, and photos come to you as the piece takes shape.
Oiled or lacquered by hand, left to cure properly, then wrapped, delivered and set in place.
The material
The shape gives a piece its shock. The wood is what you actually live with. Even our tanks and helicopters are timber all the way through. We work in solid wood rather than veneer over board, cut so the figure runs where the eye goes, and finish with oils that leave the surface open. It marks, it darkens, it picks up the room it stands in, and that is the point.
Furniture should be heavier than it looks, older every year, and impossible to mistake for anybody else's.

Every part of the fuselage, the engines, the rotor hub and the tail boom is cut and stacked from solid timber, then glued and screwed so it will carry a tabletop for decades. Once the frame for the top is fitted, the whole piece is scorched to bring up the grain.

The tank is assembled track link by track link, scorched with a torch, then sealed with lacquer so the burnt grain turns a deep amber and stays that way.

The skull chair backs and the tabletop start as glued pine panels, cut out by hand, sanded and scorched. The grenade base under the glass is wood too, stacked from dozens of end-grain blocks so the rings show on every face.

Spartan helmets, grenades and pointed ovals: the backs are cut by hand from glued pine panels and the chairs are built in batches. Each one is assembled raw and checked for fit, then scorched to bring out the grain.

Not everything fits through a door. This open-sided pavilion has a hipped roof, white columns and a ceiling lined with tongue-and-groove pine, divided by white beams, with built-in lights and fans.

Charity
A portion of every sale goes to Ukrainian charities that support orphanages. It becomes holiday gifts, toys, hygiene supplies and the everyday essentials that children in care so often go without. When you commission a piece from War Wood, part of what you pay goes straight back to them.

Part of every piece we sell goes to the children who need it most.
Commission
Send the space, the rough size and anything you have seen that you like, a photo is plenty to start. We reply with ideas, timber options and a price. Commissions are taken in order, so the earlier you write, the sooner we can cut.
